Urban Mess started in 2015 as a communal dining event based around a chosen international cuisine by Chef Tony Harrison and partner Melisah May at Lowlands Bowling Club. Their collective love of food and travel sparked a desire to discover and explore the tastes of places around the world they have been and have yet to go. ‘Peasant food’ is a focus of the Urban Mess philosophy, and lesser known methods of traditional cooking and ingredients is a feature of the delicious menus. The creative discoveries made through dining communally on an often new and exotic tasting dish have resonated with our diners ever since, sparking conversations and forming new friendships.
Urban Mess has now grown to include pop-up a la carte events, private catering, and collaborations with local business’s including Inner City Winemakers, Grainfed brewing, and musicians such as Dan Southward and Adam Miller. Sitting together, eating together, and being educated about the rustic, provincial recipes are all essential parts of the Urban Mess experience, with Head Chef Tony Harrison talking diners through the menu with a passion and enthusiasm that inspires all to be fully involved in learning about the cuisine and culture.
Join us on our journey, there are so many delicious discoveries to be made.
